2009 Hughes Festival of Music
Welcome to the Hughes Festival of Music: 6 nights in Hughes. Each concert is a dazzling jewel exquisitely set within a suburban enclave. In most Festival events, the maximum audience size is 15-20. Each concert has been tailor made for each venue. It is not accidental that we have chilled out jazz in the chemist or the woody tones of the cello amid the smell of fresh bread at the bakery. This is a music festival for all of the senses. Every concert in the Festival is a magical opportunity to join an intimate dialogue between artists and audience.

The stars are out in Hughes. All of the artists are highly acclaimed in their fields. The Festival is a unique blend of established and emerging artists. Many of them have national and international profiles and have performed on some of the great stages of the world. Now we welcome them to Hughes.

The Hughes Festival of Music is a festival of invitations. I invite the artists to be part of our community shops and to come face to face with our audience. I invite our community shops to challenge the way we listen to music. I invite you to celebrate our suburb through the magic of music.

It is with great warmth that I invite you to the Hughes Festival of Music.

Sponsor’s Message
As the real estate area specialist for Hughes at Richard Luton Properties, I am delighted to support the Hughes Festival of Music.

Real Estate is ultimately about people and the place in which they live. It is about their life style choices and about what they value. Hughes is one of those rare suburbs. The people who live here love it. This is not surprising given its close proximity to local schools, public transport, work places and health services. Its population is a rich blend of established and new families. Hughes has a sense of timelessness. The first homes were established here in 1963, many with generously sized blocks of land. Now, some 46 years later there is still a very high demand for these homes.

However, the true value of Hughes lies beyond its geographical location. Hughes residents experience a great sense of community, a sense of belonging and this is demonstrated by the coming together at the Hughes Festival of Music.

The Hughes Festival of Music is a unique celebration of a suburb. This is a brilliant display of creativity, energy and simplicity. I thank and congratulate everyone who made this festival possible.

I look forward to joining you at the Hughes Festival of Music.
